Quezon City non-working holiday – August 19

Today is a special non-working holiday and no-classes day for government offices and schools in Quezon City and Aurora province in honor of Manuel L. Quezon’s birthday.

Manuel L. Quezon was the first Commonwealth President of the Philippines and is the “Father of the National Language” (Ama ng Wikang Pambansa). Manuel L. Quezon was born in August 19, 1878 in Baler, Tayabas (Aurora) from Lucio Quezon, a retired Spanish Sergeant and Maria Dolores Molina, a grade school teacher.

Quezon served as the Philippine president from 1935-1941.
