Filipino pride, pound for pound boxing champ, Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao once again proves his power in the ring as he was hailed victorious over rival Juan Manuel Marquez in their much anticipated 3rd fight held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 12, 2011.
Filipino-Canadian youtube sensation Maria Aragon gave a brief and concise singing of the Philippine National Anthem “Lupang Hinirang.” Grammy award nominee Mexican pop singer Cristian Castro rendered a beautiful “Himno Nacional Mexicano.” American Idol Season 10 finalist Thia Megia, gave respect to America as she sang the “Star Spangled Banner.”
Marquez made his way into the ring with a Mariachi music as the Mexican crowd yelled cheers. Manny entered the ring with a live Jimi Jamison singing the “Eye of the Tiger.” This marked the beginning of the 12 rounds of boxing WBO Welterweight Championship of the World between the 150 lbs. “El Dinamita” Juan Manuel Marquez and the 148-pounder Manny Pacquiao.
Round 1. Both fighters tactically feeling out each other as high tension forms among the crows anticipating the turn of events. Pacquiao goes with the 1-2 jabs as Marquez aims for the body.
Round 2. Marquez lands a right hand on Pacquiao as he continues to counter and target the body.
Round 3. Still with no highlights as both fighters continue to chase each other trying to land a fist.
Round 4. An exchange of solid punches and lead shots. Pacquiao and Marquez both aggressive towards the end of the round.
Round 5. Marquez lands a clean solid right hand powershot into Pacquaio’s face. Pacquiao appeared to have slowed down a bit after the hit. Big round for Marquez.
Round 6. Intensity builds up as both boxers rally up punches towards each other. Marquez connected nice right hands as Pacquiao steals good right hooks.
Round 7. Marquez works up on his right hand as he continues to land solid shots on Pacquiao still aiming on hitting Pacquiao’s body. PacMan looks tired but lands a 1-2 uppercut with jabs near the bell.
Round 8. Marquez gets the round. Pacquiao sufferss a small bleeding on his mouth. Jab trades and 1-2 punches between the two fighters. Marquez was able to throw a straight right into Pacuiao’s head.
Round 9. Pacquiao seizes the round. Both boxers going all out as they land solid shots on each other. Marquez opts for a 1-2 combination to Pacquiao’s body as he made an uppercut.
Round 10. Manny gets a bad cut over his right eyebrow. Marquez had a slip and slowed down in Round 10. Score ties up.
Round 11. PacMan claims round 11 with a strong start to finish. Marquez goes with a 1-2 combinations as both of them danced around the ring.
Round 12. Fighters went toe to toe with aggressive punches going on.
Pacquiao ended the trilogy with winning from a majority decision of 114-114, 115-113, 116-112 and still the WBO Welterweight Champion of the World.
The two fighters had a draw in their first bout in 2004 and a split decision in their 2008 match up.
